A LITTLE SPACE

Your pace is part of the chemistry.

Clear boundaries do not interrupt a connection. They help you find out whether it feels right.

Say the small thing early

“I’d rather stay in the app for now.” “I prefer a public place.” “I’m not ready to share that.” A boundary can be brief. You do not need to tell a private story to make it valid.

A considerate response can be just as brief: “Of course.” Pay attention to whether a person accepts your answer or treats it as the beginning of a negotiation.

One yes is not every yes

Choosing to talk is not choosing to meet. Meeting is not consent to physical contact. A match is not permission to share their profile elsewhere. Each decision has its own context, and you can change your mind.

The same care applies to the other person. Ask without making a request feel like a test. A membership, gift or long conversation never creates a debt of attention.

You can stop without finishing the story

Sometimes there is no dramatic reason. The conversation just does not feel right, or you do not want to continue. You can end it. If there is harassment or a threat, prioritise your safety rather than trying to make the other person understand.

Keep relevant evidence if it is safe, avoid passing private material around, and choose the appropriate support or authority for the situation. Immediate danger belongs with emergency services, not an email queue.

a little closer.

Maybe you’ve already crossed paths.
